ABOUT US
What’s PGN?
PGN is a professional development organization that was founded in 1924. Since then, the organization has grown immensely, expanding to 20+ active chapters and drawing driven individuals from all majors and backgrounds to grow their professional and personal skills to better succeed in today's workplace and serve as tomorrow's leaders. Members dedicate themselves to PGN's three pillars: professionalism, philanthropy, and brotherhood. At the University of Michigan, PGN is an excellent way to meet other strongly motivated business-inclined students on campus. Members specialize in a variety of fields by combining their business interests with their areas of expertise such as finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, music performance, engineering, law and more.
Our Four Pillars
Phi Gamma Nu proudly upholds four National Pillars which represent the underlying ideals of the organization: Professionalism, Philanthropy, DEI, and Brotherhood. Through Professionalism, PGN seeks to develop responsible, capable, well-rounded, and qualified professionals. Through Philanthropy, PGN seeks to cultivate a spirit of compassion in the professional and personal lives of brothers. Through our DEI efforts, PGN seeks to create a diverse and welcoming community. Through Brotherhood, PGN seeks to nurture a sense of community among our members. These three pillars are central to the events and activities organized by our chapter.

Many students are drawn to PGN for our emphasis on business and professionalism. We help students realize their full potential through ongoing career exploration and self-reflection, a mentorship program for professional development and guidance, academic support, and opportunities such as company visits, networking, workshops, and other learning experiences. Many brothers serve in leadership positions in other organizations on campus, and all of our brothers move onto impressive and fulfilling pursuits following graduation.
-
PGN brothers appreciate their ability to have such a significant impact given the size and resources of our group, so we foster long-lasting partnerships with student groups and local charitable organizations to hold volunteering and fundraising events. In working with local partners, we prioritize the group's social impact, its presence on our own or nearby communities, and its alignment with the values of our organization.
-
DEI has always been an important part of PGN, and that is why we are so excited to establish DEI as our 4th pillar. PGN has always celebrated our members’ unique cultures and backgrounds through our many cultural celebrations such as Holi, Lunar New Year, etc. We also love hearing about unique experiences and topics that our members are passionate about, which is why we host biweekly DEI Roundtables where we create a space where members can share their stories, and others can gain a new perspective. We believe in PGN that what makes us different is important, should be celebrated, and shared with everyone in our community.
-
PGN aims to help students make meaningful connections and gain a sense of belonging within our organization, the Ross population, and the greater University of Michigan community. Our chapter is a uniquely close-knit group characterized by friendships that last lifetimes — PGN brothers care deeply about each others’ personal growth, wellbeing, and happiness. We celebrate individuality and authenticity, and embrace the wide variety of identities, interests, and passions that come together in our organization.
